Chilean Paramedic Project Continues

Chilean paramedic (r) observes Seattle Medic 1 paramedic with patient

In June the Health Committee hosted Chilean Partners member, Aliro Munoz, who spent a week planning for possible additional collaboration on the emergency rescue paramedic program which the Partnership has been involved in over the last four years.

The program, which began at the public children's hospital, Robert del Rio, now has five more centers in Santiago. Aliro noted that 80 paramedics have been trained and that of these, 50 are working in the public system. They now have a dispatch center, six ambulances and a call system similar to 911. The national Ministry of Health supports the program. Two dozen of the paramedics received training through Partners in Washington State.
